Shoemaker Readers Hit the Road…with a twist!

    Who? – MSS families

    When? – Monday, February 27, 2017, 5:30-6:30pm

    Where? – MSS Library

We are happy to have another night for you and your family to come read at our school.  The twist is we’re starting a book club! You will be able to pick your family’s book that you’ll read together.  There are 2 choices:

    Charlotte’s Web by E.B. White

The Mouse and the Motorcycle by Beverly Cleary

Come on out the first night to pick up your family’s book selection, find out some more details, and hang out to read!  We hope you can make it!

***Please note the book club will have 2 additional meeting dates:  Monday, March 20th and Monday, April 10th.  Please come even if you aren’t able to make all 3 dates.

ACCEPTABLE MATERIALS

EXAMPLES OF TYPES OF MATERIALS THAT CAN BE COUNTED TOWARD YOUR RECYCLE RALLY CONTEST TOTALS INCLUDE:

Aluminum:

Non-alcoholic aluminum cans and bottles of all shapes and sizes may be counted towards your totals in Recycle Rally:

  • Tabs may be left on the cans
  • Aluminum cans do not need to be crushed
  • Containers must be contaminant-free for sanitary and safety reasons

Plastic #1 (PET or PETE):

Plastics identified as #1 PET or #1 PETE may be counted towards your totals in Recycle Rally - Check the side or bottom of the container for the #1 symbol:

  • Acceptable plastic #1 is usually transparent - if a container is translucent or opaque, then look closely to verify that it does have a #1 on it
  • Most, but not all beverage containers are made of #1 PETE
  • Use caution with milk bottles, many are made of #2 HDPE which should not be counted
  • Product labels do not need to be removed from containers
  • It is okay to keep lids on the plastic containers
  • Containers must be contaminant-free for sanitary and safety reasons

Examples of types of materials that are commonly made of #1 PET/PETE:

  • Water bottles
  • Juice bottles
  • Soda bottles
  • Sports Drink bottles
  • Ready-to-Drink Tea bottles

Note: While it is not expected that every container be shaken completely dry, participants should make sure the containers are empty before tallying them. 12 mL of residual fluid is allowable (that is about 2% of the volume of a typical 20 oz. bottle or about 3% of the volume of a typical 12 oz. can).
