    It seems like in class lately the question comes up, "Mr. Rickard, is there anything you haven't done?"  My first instinct it to say that of course there are things I haven't done.  Why would I bring up things that I've never done?  A big part of teaching is drawing connections between life experiences and the curriculum.  To that end, here is a partial list of things that I have done that have come up during class.
    • Started wearing glasses - Kindergarden
    • Struck out in T-ball - 1st grade
    • Started playing soccer (instead of more baseball) - 2nd grade - 12th grade
    • Played trumpet 4th - 12th grade
    • Played basketball 5th/6th grade
    • Studies HapKiDo - High school
    • Took lots of AP Classes - High school
    • Graduated in a class about the size of WHS
    • Went to Penn State - BS Chemistry, met my future wife
    • Member Nittany Chemical Society (college ACS affilliate)
    • Joined Alpha Chi Sigma
    • Went to Cornell for a year
    • Moved back in with parents and worked at PSU Altoona
    • Forensic chemist for the DEA (hence the NARC rumors)
    • Danced with a comedic dance troupe
    • Bought a nice camera and started taking pictures
    • Went to Italy and got engaged
    • Earned black belt and instructor certifications in KiGong and defensive tactics from KMARA
    • Worked for ACE Glass
    • Bought a house
    • Alternate route certification
    • Teaching at Woodstown High School
    • Got married and honeymooned in Ireland
    • Started photography club
    • Took over as chess club advisor
    • Went to OM Worlds competition 2011- Maryland, 2012- Iowa 2014- Iowa 2016-Iowa (Never Michigan for some reason)
    • Dad - 2012 - present
    • Turned Photography Club over to Ms. D - 2015
    • Science Fair Coordinator - 2016
    • Started a screenplay
    • Finished Masters Degree in Science Education Western Governors University - 2018
    • Stepped down from coaching OM to step up as Science ATL - 2018
