    Language Arts

    Our Reading Program is comprised of a variety of resources that focus on teaching the skills based on the common core standards. One of the main resources is ReadyGEN by Pearson. This resource has lessons in Text Talk, Close Read, Text Analysis, Process & Strategy, and Writing Instruction in small group/independent writing. In addition, we also use the "Fundations" Wilson Language Training program that is an integrated systematic word study, phonics, spelling, and handwriting curriculum. Teacher made units are other tools that are used to enhance our Language Arts Kindergarten Program. 
     

    Math

    Our Math Program is comprised of a variety of resources that focus on teaching the skills based on the common core standards with our main resource being EnVisions by Pearson. This curriculum is comprised of two Units, with 8 Topics in each Unit. The Topics include lessons that teach to the Common Core Standards with Topic Assessments at the conclusion of each Topic, and Cumulative Tests after several Topics.
     
     
    Science/Social Studies
     
    SCIENCE:  We complete three units of study in Kindergarten based on the Next Generation Science Standards. The Units are Interdependent relationships (animals, plants, and their environments) Weather and Climate; and Motion & Stability: Forces and Interactions. Our resources include: ReadyGen, Scholastic Let's Find Out, Scholastic Science Spin, TCI Science, and STC Forces & Motion Kit.
     
    SOCIAL STUDIES: We discuss current affairs, world events, and national holidays. The children participate in multicultural based activities through exploration of different holidays, traditions, presidents, and customs and cultures from various countries. Our resources include: Scholastic Let's Find Out, biographies on MLK Jr., Presidents Lincoln and Washington, Brainpop Jr., our community, neighborhoods, and community helpers, and Holidays around the world.
