• The WPRSD curriculum documents are aligned with the New Jersey Student Learning Standards. These standards are updated by the state periodically and districts then have time to update their curriculum to reflect the standards. The seven content areas below underwent standards revisions in 2019. Curriculum in these content areas has been updated and is currently being posted as the documents are approved by the Board of education.

    Career Readiness

    Comprehensive Health and Physical Education

    What are standards?

At the core of every curricular unit and classroom lesson are standards.  Standards are not a “curriculum” but rather established learning goals for what students should know and be able to do at each grade level. Standards serve as the framework to build curriculum and help teachers ensure their students have the skills and knowledge they need to be successful, while also helping parents understand what is expected of their child in each content area at each grade level.  Teachers base all learning on current standards and assess student progress on these standards. Our state assessments, the NJSLA and NJGPA, also measure student progress on the state standards in specific content areas (ELA, math, science). Parents are encouraged to familiarize themselves with the state standards and to contact their child's teacher(s) with any questions related to curriculum for a specific course. Our district curriculum documents can be accessed using the links to the left.
