Hello MSS All-Star Families!
Thanks to all who joined us for the 20th Kids Inquiry Conference at SCC! Our 2nd-5th graders put a lot of work and effort into preparing for this day and your children did a fantastic job! A special thanks to our staff who helped prepare the students, our volunteers, the WHS students, and Ms. Chew, our SC KIC Coordinator!
Here are a few reminders for you this week!
*** Anti-Bias Focus Group Meeting***
Please join Mrs. Grossman, our superintendent, on Monday, January 14th at 7:00pm at the Mary S. Shoemaker School for our second Anti-Bias Focus Group meeting.
**PTO Meeting - Grades Prek-8**
Our next PTO meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, January 16th at 7:00pm at Mary S. Shoemaker School. We are still seeking the position of Corresponding Secretary. Please call the school office or email Ms. Cioffi if you are interested! We hope to see you there!
**PTO Snowball Dance Saturday 2/1/19**
Save the date! The PTO is hosting its first ever Snowball Dance on Saturday, February 2nd! This event will have two sessions. Grades 1-2 from 4:00pm-6:00pm and Grades 3-5 from 7:00pm-9:00pm. Each child must be escorted by a parent or guardian for the evening. More details and information will be sent home soon but we wanted to let you know about this new and exciting event for your child!
**Tech Night at MSS**
On Wednesday, January 16th at 6:00pm (prior to the PTO meeting) we are hosting a Technology Night at Mary S. Shoemaker School for families of grades PreK-5. We will be discussing internet safety tips, online resources that support our curriculum, and information on apps and programs. A flyer will be sent home on Monday with an RSVP.
**School Closed 1/21/19**
School is closed in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. birthday on Monday, January 21, 2019.
**MLK Day of Service**
The Woodstown-Pilesgrove School District is participating in Martin Luther King Day on Monday, January 21st from 8-10am at Woodstown High School Cafeteria. We are accepting donations for Code Blue of Salem County, a non-profit organization. Also, Color a Smile is a non-profit organization that distributes cheerful drawings to senior citizens, troops overseas, and anyone in need of a smile. Please stop by the WHS Cafe to donate, draw a picture, or both!
**January Spirit Collection**
In January we are collecting donations toward the Salem County Humane Society. The Humane Society is a no-kill facility located in Carneys Point, NJ. Please see the link for more information.
**January Spirit Day**
Please wear orange and blue on January 31, 2018.
**Holy Spirit Youth Basketball**
Holy Spirit Basketball for Boys and Girls grades 2 through 4: Save the Date! Starts Saturday, Jan 5, 2019 at the Holy Spirit Parish Center or Shoemaker Gym. Follow the “Woodstown Youth Basketball Association” Facebook Page for more information. Forms are available for you in the MSS office as well if you are interested.
Spring Registration for 2019 season begins in November! The program is open to all boys and girls in Kindergarten through 8th grade in Salem County. Equipment is supplied for the season for 2nd grade students. Please check out their website at http://woodstownlacrosse.

**Woodstown Recreation Soccer League**
Registration for the 2019 Spring Recreation Soccer Season is now open and will run through February 15th.

** Birds Eye Family Success Center (Pennsville and Woodstown locations) **
Family Success Centers are community-based, family-centered neighborhood gathering places where community residents go for family support, interactive workshops, activities and groups. A variety of family friendly events take place each month. ALL FREE AND FUN!
